Cookie policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage that Dziri uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts and how to remove it.
1. The short version
Dziri uses cookies and browser storage only to make the service work and to remember your choices. Dziri sets no advertising or analytics cookies, and does not use cookies to follow you across other websites.
Videos and posts from other platforms, such as YouTube and TikTok, play in those platforms’ own players, which can set their own cookies. See “Content from other platforms” below.
2. Cookies and similar storage
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser and reads on later visits. Websites can also keep information in your browser in other ways: local storage and session storage, which hold small pieces of text, and larger stores for files such as drafts and videos. This policy covers all of them.
The Dziri mobile apps keep the same kinds of information in the app’s storage on your device.
3. Needed for Dziri to work
Without these you cannot sign in or use Dziri safely, so they cannot be switched off inside Dziri.
- Sign-in session. Cookies whose names begin with
dziri., with a copy in local storage. They keep you signed in, including across Dziri’s sites on dziri.app. They are sent only over secure connections, last 30 days and are renewed while you use Dziri. Signing out deletes them. - Checkout. While you place an order, session storage keeps a one-time reference so that the same order is not placed twice if you try again. It is deleted when the order goes through or when you close the tab.
4. Your preferences
- Language. The
dziri-localecookie remembers the language you chose, so pages open in it straight away. It lasts one year. A copy is kept in local storage. - Display. Local storage remembers whether you chose the light or dark display.
- Feed and video settings. Local storage remembers your feed settings, your quick reactions, your “I’m on Wi-Fi” setting (for a limited time only), some video player choices and whether the side menu is collapsed.
- Suggestions you closed. Session storage remembers the people suggestions you closed until you close the tab.
5. Features that keep data on your device
- Invitations. If you open an invitation link, local storage keeps its code until you sign in and the invitation is recorded.
- Market. Local storage keeps the products you viewed recently.
- Nearby offers. Local storage keeps the last list of offers shown near you, so the page can show it while it loads or when you are offline.
- Where you left off. Session storage remembers the video you were watching when you open something from the feed, and local storage remembers where you stopped in longer videos.
- Drafts. Posts and videos you save as drafts, including their photos and videos, stay in your browser until you publish or delete them.
- Videos for weak connections. Copies of some short videos you watched are kept so they can play when your connection drops: Dziri videos for up to a week, videos from other platforms for up to 24 hours. All of them are deleted when no one is signed in on the device. A background helper (a service worker) also keeps some video stream files so that playback starts faster.
- Notices. Local storage remembers the notices and prompts you have already seen or closed, so they do not come back.
- Visit reference. Session storage keeps a random reference for the current tab, so the activity of one visit can be grouped together to improve your feed. It is deleted when you close the tab.
6. Content from other platforms
When you play a video or post from another platform inside Dziri, such as YouTube or TikTok, it plays in that platform’s own player. That platform can set its own cookies or storage in your browser, under its own cookie and privacy policies. For some YouTube videos we use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which limits the cookies YouTube sets. Dziri does not control these cookies and cannot read them.
7. What we do not use
Dziri does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or social media tracking pixels. When the app runs into an error, it can send us a technical error report so we can fix the problem; this does not use cookies.
8. How to manage or delete them
- Sign out to delete the sign-in cookies from that browser.
- Change your language or display at any time in Dziri; the new choice replaces the old one.
- Delete everything from your browser settings by clearing cookies and site data for dziri.app. You will be signed out, and the preferences and drafts saved in that browser will be lost.
- Block cookies in your browser settings if you prefer. Dziri needs its sign-in cookies, so you will not be able to stay signed in without them.
- In the Dziri apps, clearing the app’s storage in your device settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes this information.
9. Changes and questions
If we add a cookie or change what one does, we will update this page and its date. Questions about this policy: privacy@dziri.app. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
